On The Horizon

We're dead set on two things right now. 1. Establishing a retail experience on Fox Island. 2. Supplying 10+ restaurants in Seattle. If you want to help us on either of those two priorities, we'd love to connect!

Oysters, Clams, Mussels, and more

Our story actually starts long ago...

I was 16 when my parents called me in for a serious talk. They'd found a thick roll of cash hidden in my dresser, far more than my job at the marina could explain. What legit job pays in $100 bills wrapped in rubber bands they wondered?

Naturally, they were concerned.

“Where did this come from? Are you selling drugs?!” my mom asked, her voice a mix of fear and disbelief.

“No, no!” I quickly assured her. “I’m selling fish!”

As I explained my new venture their alarm slowly gave way to relief. That summer, I'd figured out a way to fish five mornings a week before school, then hustle my fresh catch to local restaurants. I had knocked on enough restaurant doors to land solid customers and before I knew it, I had become a high-school kid moonlighting as a fish dealer.

I loved every second.

That was 25 years ago. I went off to college, pursued another path, and my days as a fishmonger slipped into the past. But the sea never truly let me go. Its call was always there, waiting for the right moment to pull me back.

After settling on Fox Island with my family, surrounded by the rich tidelands and endless beauty of Puget Sound, it didn’t take long for the familiar temptation to return. I started exploring little known farms from Shelton to Whidbey island and discovered first hand the legendary shellfish of the PNW. The experience whispered of opportunity, and I knew it was time.

By another stroke of luck I met Dallas Bond and Nicholas Barnett thanks to our kids going to school together.

Mr. Bond is a serial entrepreneur and CEO, and Mr. Barnett runs a venture firm of 80+ companies. We quickly discovered our shared love of seafood, business, and family. The rest is history.

That’s how Fox Island Oyster Company was born. We aim to deliver the finest oysters, clams, and mussels from the Pacific Northwest’s most storied farms, straight to your door.

Because when the sea calls, you answer.

See you at Zog’s!
